ABOUT THE COFFEE

The Kindeng Mill processing station is located in Jiwaka Province and processes coffee from 1,500 smallholder farmers from the Kindeng and Arufa communities. Their farms average 1-2 hectares in size. The coffee cherries delivered to Kindeng Mill are processed, and then the beans are dried on raised beds and cloths, turned several times a day. The entire process takes about a month.

Fun fact: Jiwaka Province is located in very fertile lands in the Waghi River Valley. The river serves the locals in many areas, including agriculture. Crops are also favored by the naturally fertile soil, usually sandy loam and clay loam. In addition to coffee, tea is also grown here.
