Asman Gayo Mill is a small processing station located in the Pegasing district of Takengon, in the coffee-famous Aceh region of Sumatra. The station is run by Cup of Excellence winner Asman Arianto. Asman Gayo Mill works with several small coffee producers from the villages of Pantan Musara, who were displaced from their homes and land a few years ago due to a natural disaster and rebuilt their lives and farms with a focus on coffee production. Unlike most other coffee collection and processing centers in Sumatra, Asman Gayo Mill produces both washed and natural coffees.


Fun fact: Microlots from Sumatra can usually be traced back to the level of the processing station, and sometimes even to a specific producer. Due to the generally small size of farms in Sumatra, most coffee is a blend of beans from many smallholders. Microlot coffees not only offer greater traceability than blended lots, but they also tend to achieve the highest quality.
