ABOUT THE FARM

The Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society Limited, operating since the 1950s, runs three coffee processing factories: Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoi. It currently brings together 2,858 active farmers whose crops are centered around the queen of the region – Mount Kenya. The cooperative's headquarters are located in the Ngariama area on the southern slopes of the mountain.

Fun fact: Most coffee growers in Kenya own between 1/8 and 1/4 of a hectare of land and deliver their coffee as cherries to a local processing station, such as Karimikui, for sorting and processing. At the station, the deliveries are tasted, and after selection, they are mixed and processed into daily lots (microlots).
