Those early years were filled with roasting, cupping, and traveling to connect directly with producers at origin.Roasting and brewing in the field was manageable. But precise grinding – the key to truly tasting and deciding on a coffee – was the real challenge.None of the hand grinders I tried gave me the clarity or consistency needed. I kept dreaming of EK43-level performance in a compact format I could carry deep into the mountains. I just needed a grind I could trust.Most conical burrs at the time were designed for electric grinders. Nobody had really considered what a manually operated precision burr would require: superb grind quality, smooth torque, comfortable ergonomics, clean particle distribution – and ultimately, absolute taste clarity.Then came Cup of Excellence. It shifted the coffee world’s focus toward extraordinary cup quality and flavor expression.The bar was rising. Stepped grind adjustment gives full control over settings for every brewing method and helps achieve repeatability. The results are extremely satisfying, both when grinding for alternative methods, as well as for espresso and ibrik, making the device exceptional compared to other manual grinders. Each Gold Clix click alters the burr position by 41.6 μm, resulting in a 21 μm change in coffee particle size.CONSTRUCTIONThe Comandante C60 Baracuda also features a new design. Stainless steel is the right choice for creating a solid and food-safe coffee grinder. That is why the body, along with the axle and its stabilization, is made from a single block of stainless steel using advanced technology used in manufacturing motor components. This solution ensures durability and excellent axle stabilization. The outer wall of the body is powder-coated.The brand also loves natural wood. The solid oak knob crafted by friends in the German Black Forest is both ergonomic and visually appealing thanks to the unique oak grain structure. The C60 Baracuda is equipped with an XL crank handle featuring the Big Joe knob, which makes grinding even smoother. The grind adjustment dial is made of brass. Comandante products do not contain aluminum.The grinders are produced entirely in Germany.
