Creating this unibody construction out of steel is particularly challenging, but it’s absolutely worth it to create the perfect burr housing. C60 pushes the boundaries of manufacturing techniques and quality, using processes normally reserved for high performance motor parts. The rich Nautilus Blue colour is accomplished with our robust powder coating. The result is a bold and clear-cut design that supports the function perfectly. It’s a hefty one-kilogram beast that is incredibly satisfying to use.

BARACUDA® was developed to achieve the same iconic grind performance that has made the NITRO BLADE® burr set a gold standard for specialty coffee enthusiasts around the world — but with increased productivity for professional and competition scenarios. It is not about bigger being better — for burrs the opposite is normally true. But we were curious: how big a burr set could we fit into a familiar and manageable manual grinder format, chasing higher productivity, but without sacrificing grind performance? A simple, yet ambitious goal.

The result is BARACUDA®, the biggest burr set design we’ve ever released. It rips through beans with incredible precision, grinding around 1 gram of coffee per second at filter coffee settings and simultaneously delivering outstanding flavour clarity, balance and sweetness. No matter what kind of coffee or brewing method you’re using, BARACUDA® is a true all-rounder.

Like all Comandante burrs, BARACUDA® is produced from our proprietary NITRO REX® steel — a masterpiece of material science and craftsmanship. Developed to offer exceptional corrosion resistance, hardness and wear resistance, it ensures a lifetime of world class grind performance. A complex remelting process ensures a fine, homogeneous matrix structure and a silver-white surface that is not only aesthetically impressive, but also makes coatings superfluous.

Its complex remelting process creates a fine, homogeneous structure and a silver-white surface that is not only aesthetically striking but also eliminates the need for coatings. QTP® – high-performance techno-polymer

Not all plastics are the same. At Comandante®, advanced materials are chosen with purpose. QTP® is a high-performance techno-polymer — a long-chain polymer matrix reinforced with quartz nanoparticles. It looks and feels like ceramic, yet offers the strength of a super-composite. Designed for durability and precision, it is also food-safe and water-resistant. Quietly cutting-edge, built to perform.

GRIND ADJUSTMENT

The Comandante C60 Baracuda is equipped with the new GX50 Gold Clix system, which provides exceptional precision and a wide range of grind size settings. Stepped grind adjustment gives full control over settings for every brewing method and helps achieve repeatability. The results are extremely satisfying, both when grinding for alternative methods, as well as for espresso and ibrik, making the device exceptional compared to other manual grinders. Each Gold Clix click alters the burr position by 41.6 μm, resulting in a 21 μm change in coffee particle size.

CONSTRUCTION

The Comandante C60 Baracuda also features a new design. Stainless steel is the right choice for creating a solid and food-safe coffee grinder. That is why the body, along with the axle and its stabilization, is made from a single block of stainless steel using advanced technology used in manufacturing motor components. This solution ensures durability and excellent axle stabilization. The outer wall of the body is powder-coated.

The brand also loves natural wood. The solid oak knob crafted by friends in the German Black Forest is both ergonomic and visually appealing thanks to the unique oak grain structure. The C60 Baracuda is equipped with an XL crank handle featuring the Big Joe knob, which makes grinding even smoother. The grind adjustment dial is made of brass. Comandante products do not contain aluminum.

The grinders are produced entirely in Germany. The C60 Baracuda weighs approximately 1018 grams – a grinder with a solid construction, while maintaining a compact size.
