The whisk is made from a single piece of bamboo, precisely cut and bound with cotton string to form delicate prongs. These, when shaped correctly, create a jade-like foam while whisking matcha. Using the chasen, you whisk in the bowl with W- or M-shaped motions. This allows the matcha to combine well with the water into a suspension, with a thin foam layer forming on the surface. Perfect frothing is possible thanks to the flexible bamboo prongs of the chasen, which are slightly curved at the bottom and gathered at the top, finished with a special wooden handle.

Traditional bamboo whisk or “chasen” is an indispensable tool of the Japanese matcha tea ceremony. The fine, handmade prongs are carved out in a single piece of bamboo. When using a chasen to whisk matcha it is best to keep a loose and relaxed wrist and make rapid zigzag motions in the shape of letter “W” or “M” – this helps to give matcha the ideal frothy texture.Tips for whipping up matcha:The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku. Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.MATERIAL: light bamboo seasoned woodPRONGS: 100Not dishwasher safe. After use best to dry on dedicated chasen holder (sold seperately). Do not place a wet chasen in the carton container or any other closed container.

Chashaku is the traditional spoon for serving matcha and an integral part of the matcha tea ceremony. The curved portion of the spoon is used to scoop a small portion of matcha tea and place in a bowl (matchawan). The mixture is then whisked to uniform consistency using a bamboo whisk (chasen). The amount of matcha served depends on individual preference.Traditionally, thin tea or “usucha” is prepared with 1 chashaku of matcha (one teaspoon) and approximately 75-100ml of hot water. This proportion is perfect for creating ideal frothy texture on the surface of matcha.Koicha, or thick tea, is made using significantly more matcha 4-6 chashaku portions (4-6 teaspoons) in 150ml of hot water. The resulting matcha is much denser and sweeter. Whisking it is more difficult and this method does not produce the characteristic foam. It is served almost exclusively as part of the Japanese tea ceremonyMATERIAL: bambooLENGHT: 18 cmNot dishwasher safe.

The products are characterized not only by beautiful forms but also by exceptional durability due to high-temperature firing.Since each bowl is handmade on the potter’s wheel, it may slightly differ from the one in the photo.Dishwasher safe.Capacity: 400 mlHeight: 7.5 cmDiameter: 11 cmBamboo matcha whisk – chasenA traditional Japanese whisk for frothing matcha tea. The whisk is made from a single piece of bamboo, where precise cuts and careful binding with cotton string create delicate prongs. When properly shaped, they produce a jade-like foam while whisking matcha. Using the chasen, you whisk in the bowl with W- or M-shaped motions. This allows the matcha to blend thoroughly with water into a suspension, while a thin layer of foam forms on the tea’s surface. Perfect frothing is possible thanks to the flexible bamboo bristles of the chasen. These bristles are gently curved at the bottom, gathered together at the top, and finished with a special wooden handle.

Jointly developed by ORIGAMI and Saten japanese tea. The capacity is enough for one to two cups of ordinary matcha (thin tea). The bottom of the cup has a rounded bottom suitable for brewing and kneading, making it easy to brew smooth forms of matcha (thin tea), and it can also be used to quickly knead small amounts of matcha or thick tea for matcha lattes, etc.The tapered mouth makes it easy to hold and pour, and at the same time, the liquid returns to the inside of the cup when the matcha is being brewed, preventing spills and making the form more finely textured. The use of a new stone-like material called "Re-stone," which is strong enough to withstand the rigors of professional tableware, combined with a matte glaze with a warm texture, gives the item a traditional tea ceremony atmosphere and craft-like gentleness.Diameter: 140mmHeight: 80mm.Due to the characteristics of porcelain and production conditions, the surface may have fine irregularities or numerous small holes depending on the color and production period. Please note that this is not a defect. Designed and made in Japan.Dishwasher safe.
