PRODUCER, FARM, REGION
Alex Herrera is a fifth-generation representative of a Guatemalan coffee-growing family whose roots trace back to the mountainous areas of the Atitlán volcano. He has been connected to coffee since childhood, accompanying his parents in the cultivation and processing of beans and learning every detail that makes coffee exceptional. His technical background and international experience have allowed him to combine family tradition with modern trends in production and marketing, ensuring high quality, traceability, and sustainable development of the coffees produced.
His passion and leadership are reflected in the balance between love for the land and process innovation. This strengthens the value of the family's coffees and prepares them for the demands of the global market. Every microlot produced by Alex and his family is an expression of respect for the environment, the local community, and the history of coffee growing in Guatemala.
This commitment is reflected in each of the farms they operate. Los Andes, purchased in 2024, restores the history of an estate that has been linked to Panama since the 19th century and today combines tradition and modernity in the production of exceptional coffees at the foot of the volcano. Meanwhile, Pampojilá, located in the higher parts of the volcano above the lake, is characterized by volcanic soils and natural mist that protects the coffee trees. The farm was renovated by the Herrera family in 2012 and to this day delivers coffees with an exceptional flavor profile and a rich history spanning centuries.
MEISSA is the star whose name is borne by all coffee lots produced by Alex Herrera on the Pampojilá farm in the Atitlán coffee region. The individual lots vary in flavor and aroma characteristics as well as the processing method used. Each lot is named after one of the stars, thus creating an entire, unique coffee universe.
