ABOUT THE COFFEE

Gera Station = five brothers, a family business, and 2,050 meters above sea level. The Gera washing station is located in the Gera woreda in the Djimma region of Ethiopia – run by five brothers, second-generation producers who took over from their parents 5 years ago. Year-round, 20 people work here, and during the harvest season from October to December, this number increases to 80. The coffee grows in the shade of Abyssinian banana trees, cultivated using organic methods by many local smallholder farmers without synthetic fertilizers. Ripe cherries are hand-picked by seasonal workers, and after processing, they are sun-dried for 12–16 days until reaching the ideal moisture content. Kumquat and lemon give it a lively, fresh acidity, while dark oolong provides the brew with a structure and depth not always expected from a washed Ethiopian coffee. A coffee that surprises – in a positive way.

ROASTER'S OPINION

Gera is a washed Ethiopia with a character that is hard to miss. Kumquat and lemon build a bright, lively acidity, while dark oolong keeps it all in check and gives the cup a tea-like structure. Clean, precise, and with personality. An unexpected choice that is hard to put down.
