ABOUT THE FARM
Finca Juan Martin is an innovative and experimental plantation owned and managed by Banexport. The project aims to cultivate, harvest, and process various coffee varieties, as well as to develop appropriate practices at every stage of production in order to achieve the highest possible coffee quality.
Juan Martin also serves as a source of knowledge and an example for producers who sell and export their coffee through Banexport. The plantation is located in the highest section of the Sotará region, just 30 minutes from Popayán – the capital of the Cauca department. Its operations focus on developing environmentally friendly practices, creating jobs for the local community, and providing educational opportunities for its members.
Various maintenance tasks are regularly performed at the Juan Martin plantation. Due to the steep slope of the terrain, special attention is paid to soil protection. Cover vegetation is allowed to grow freely to prevent erosion. Crops are also monitored for pests and diseases, which are managed upon detection. The area around the coffee trees is weeded every 75 days, while the spaces between rows are mowed every two months.
Coffees grown, harvested, and processed at the plantation are produced in accordance with the highest standards of quality, organization, and control. The methods used are adapted to both environmental conditions and the individual needs of specific varieties, taking into account factors such as Brix level, moisture content, and the desired sensory profile of the coffee.
Store in a cool and dry place.
