Region: Kayanza

Processing method: Anaerobic Natural

ABOUT THE COFFEE

If you enjoy bold, fruity flavors, these beans are a perfect choice! The anaerobic natural processing method brings out notes reminiscent of cider, white grapes, and caramel sweetness, creating a complex and layered cup.

What’s the secret? During anaerobic natural processing, the coffee cherries are fermented in tightly sealed barrels for about 72 hours. They are then dried together with the pulp surrounding the bean, allowing it to absorb a deep, slightly alcoholic acidity and a complex sweetness. One sip and you’ll see why Burundi is taking the coffee scene by storm!

ROASTER’S NOTE

Last year we had a very strong representative from Burundi, so this year we had to choose something equally interesting! Sparkling acidity reminiscent of cider, white grapes, and caramel sweetness come together in this anaerobic lot. Full, fruity, and complex — a worthy successor to last year’s favorite!
