ABOUT THE FARM


Guatemala La Esmeralda Washed is a specialty coffee from a farm to which we have a special connection. Finca El Llano belongs to the Perez family and is located in the prestigious Acatenango region, in the Chimaltenango department, in the heart of Guatemala’s volcanic mountain chain. It is here, in the shadow of volcanoes and under the influence of breezes from the Pacific Ocean, that coffees of remarkable depth and elegance are produced.


The name El Llano means “the plain” in Spanish, and the name is no coincidence. The farm covers an area of around 10 hectares, creating ideal conditions for the stable and sustainable development of coffee plants.


Raul Perez, the main caretaker of the farm, has been steadily developing his plantation for years, introducing new coffee varieties with greater resilience and improved quality potential. His goal is not only to produce outstanding specialty coffee, but also to create a model farm based on the principles of regenerative agriculture.


Raul actively seeks ways to reduce or completely eliminate artificial fertilizers, focusing on maintaining ecosystem balance and the long-term fertility of the soil. His work aims to inspire other producers in the Acatenango region and contribute to a more sustainable future for coffee cultivation in Guatemala.
