ABOUT THE COFFEE
This batch of coffee was processed at the Nyagishiru CWS washing station located near the Ruvubu River, in the Buhinyuza commune (Muyinga province) in the northeastern part of Burundi. It is a hilly region with an average altitude of 1,500-1,800 meters above sea level, rich in volcanic soils. The Nyagishiru station is owned and managed by Matsitsi Trading Coffee SU (MATRACO). The company was founded in 2015 by Zuberi Matsitsi, who produces specialty coffee primarily for international markets.
Fun fact: Zuberi Matsitsi owns over 7,000 coffee trees. In addition to the Nyagishiru CWS plantation, his company also owns two other plantations in the Kayanza province. Coffee batches from Zuberi Matsitsi's plantations won awards in the Cup of Excellence competitions in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017.
