ABOUT THE COFFEE
Bombe Abore is a coffee originating from the Sidama region in Ethiopia, grown at an altitude of 1,920–2,020 m a.s.l. surrounded by lush vegetation and a humid climate. The cherries are supplied by approximately 1,022 local farmers managing small farms. The beans come from the 74110 and 74112 botanical varieties, which are characteristic of the region. The high altitude of the crops promotes slow ripening of the fruit, allowing its complex sensory profile to develop.
ABOUT THE FARM
The cherries are delivered to the Abore station, located near the Bok Nora waterfall. Its name refers to a nearby bridge built in 1997 in honor of a local leader. The station plays an important role in local coffee production, offering both washed and natural processing. For the natural process, whole cherries are spread on raised African beds, where they dry slowly for about 16–25 days, depending on weather conditions. Regular turning of the fruit ensures even drying and reduces the risk of undesirable changes during processing.
The production process is complemented by cherry selection, quality control, and responsible water and waste management. The station uses specialized equipment for sorting, fermentation, and washing of the beans, and wastewater from the processing is directed to a natural purification system. The combination of high altitude, local varieties, and careful processing results in coffees that truly reflect the character of the Sidama region.
ROASTER'S OPINION
Bombe Abore is a coffee with an exceptionally pleasant, fruity profile, where the sweetness of ripe fruits merges with delicate caramel notes and subtle citrus freshness. Berries and sweet, juicy strawberry—reminiscent of ripe fruits in peak season—are already prominent in the aroma. Overall, it is intensely fruity, sweet, and inviting, with a distinctly marked character of red and dark fruits.
In terms of flavor, blueberries and sweet strawberry take center stage, accompanied by a pleasant caramel sweetness. A citrus-strawberry acidity introduces a touch of freshness to the profile and highlights the coffee's fruity character, while remaining gentle and well integrated with the other notes. As a result, the coffee maintains a harmonious character—it is juicy and distinct, but not overly acidic. A medium body provides it with a pleasant structure and adequate fullness, while high sweetness ensures that every sip remains smooth and balanced.
The entire experience is rounded off by a long, sweet aftertaste, where accents of caramel, strawberries, and berries linger for a moment longer. This coffee is for those who appreciate clear fruitiness combined with high sweetness and mild acidity. Its profile is simultaneously juicy, sweet, and harmonious, while the caramel finish adds a pleasant depth.
This is a brilliantly processed natural from a washing station with high expertise in producing top-quality lots. Although the station itself has been operating for only 10 years, the experience of the specialists working there is many times greater. It is very sweet and fruity—almost sticky—with everything rounded off by a delicate, slightly effervescent citrus acidity.
Store in a dry and cool place.
