Coffee with a green heart
Gititu is one of four processing stations belonging to the Aguthi Farmers Cooperative Society, located in one of Kenya's most fertile coffee-growing regions. The plantations stretch between the majestic Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range – ideal conditions for growing coffee of exceptional clarity and distinct character.
Around 800 farmers deliver their crops to the station, each running a small farm with an average of 300 coffee trees. Cooperation within the cooperative allows them to jointly ensure high coffee quality and receive fair compensation for their work.
At Gititu, great importance is also attached to environmental protection. Special filtration tanks prevent used water from mixing with clean water during processing, effectively reducing the impact of production on the surrounding nature.
