ABOUT THE FARM

Los Campos farm is located in the Los Santos region, more specifically in Tablón del Guarco, Cartago province. This area is well known for its high-altitude coffee production and consistently high quality.

In 2015, the Ramirez-Navarro family took a bold step forward by building their own micro-mill, “Los Campos.” This milestone allowed them to process their own coffee, ensuring full control over quality and traceability while reducing reliance on the cooperative system. Direct trade had long been a goal for the family, which is why their collaboration with Grounds represents such an important achievement.

The main coffee varieties grown on the farm are Caturra and Catuai. In recent years, however, the family has been expanding their horizons by planting F-1 hybrid varieties such as Esperanza, Milenio, and Centroamericano. This marks a step toward greater diversity and long-term sustainability. Gesha has been planted at the highest point of the farm, at 2,000 meters above sea level, within a forested area that provides ideal growing conditions.

At Los Campos, the team experiments with a wide range of processing methods, from classic high-quality washed coffees to innovative fermentation techniques, both aerobic and anaerobic.

ROASTER’S NOTE

I absolutely love coffees from the Alexis family. It’s easy to notice how often they appear in my lineup. This time, we’re serving their classic Catuai processed as White Honey. Sweet, with a lively, juicy acidity, red fruit notes, and a chocolatey finish. Seriously good stuff.
