COFFEE PLANT - Burundi Nemba Natural Filter 250 g

Manufacturer: COFFEE PLANT

Roasting date: 28.04.2026

Whole-bean specialty coffee beans from Burundi, roasted by COFFEE PLANT from Poland. Light roast, perfect for filter coffee machines, drippers, Chemex, AeroPress, French Press, and other pour-over brewing methods. You can expect hints of blackberry, black currant, caramel and citrus fruits.Origin: BurundiRegion: KayanzaFarm: Nemba Washing StationProcessing: NaturalVariety: Red BourbonAltitude: 1700 m a.s.l.ABOUT THE FARMThe Nemba station is located in northern Burundi, in the Kayanza province. Its operations are overseen by an agronomist responsible for implementing good agricultural practices and educating producers. The agronomist works directly with the farmers, assisting them in gaining access to tools and selecting cultivation methods best suited to the conditions of their local plots. The station collaborates with 1,074 smallholder producers, each of whom owns an average of about 150 coffee trees. The plantations are situated at altitudes above 1,700 meters above sea level, near the Kibira forest, which favors obtaining high-quality raw material. The station itself has over 200 drying beds and can process up to 750 tons of coffee cherries annually. The entire process — from cultivation to processing — is covered by a monitoring system that ensures full traceability.Nemba is also engaged in the development of local communities, implementing projects that support farmers, including animal husbandry, strengthening cooperative structures, and improving crop yield.ROASTER'S OPINIONNemba is a washing station whose coffees we are always very keen to reach for. Located in the Kayanza region, it has been famous for years for Red Bourbon lots from local farmers, which stand out due to their natural, high sweetness, often balanced by caramel and fruit accents. These are profiles with low to medium acidity and a medium to high, pleasantly sticky body.In the case of this specific lot from the current harvest, the character remains very consistent with what we usually expect from Nemba. The aroma is dominated by berries, caramel, and citrus — above all lemon, which gives the whole profile freshness and lightness. In the flavor, distinct blackcurrant, juicy blueberries, and again lemon and sweet caramel appear, building a harmonious, well-balanced structure. The body is medium, but distinctly sticky and oily, which adds fullness and depth to the coffee. The aftertaste remains long, caramelly, and pleasantly sweet, while the acidity is low, smooth, and perfectly highlights the high natural sweetness.RECIPEUse your favorite AeroPress recipe. In our opinion, this coffee comes out most interesting when brewed specifically in an AeroPress!Store in a cool and dry place.

They operate in the spirit of Tri Hita Karana – a Balinese philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual realm, treating coffee production as an expression of balance and responsibility. They employ sustainable farming methods, caring for both yields and the environment – for instance, by using coffee husks to create natural fertilizer. The community also plays a significant role, especially the women, who are responsible for key post-harvest stages such as drying and sorting, ensuring the high quality of every lot.ROASTER'S NOTESInside the bag, you will find an intriguing composition of flavors – on one hand, a profile classic for its origin with notes of chocolate, nuts, and spices; on the other, a distinct and intensely fruity character. The result is a unique and delicious coffee from an island primarily associated with tourism rather than high-quality coffee. The aroma is dominated by accents of peach and spices, such as pepper, cinnamon, and cloves. This word means a small coffee processing station. The Gutiérrez family has combined 14 hectares of coffee farms with a facility for preparing the beans for export. This way, nothing limits them in experimenting and creating a wide variety of microlots. The idea behind the Gutiérrez family's business is based on planting rare varieties such as Geisha or SL28 on the farm and then processing them into separate lots. The small scale makes it possible to focus on the highest possible quality. Manual harvesting, precise monitoring of fermentation conditions, and bean drying make the Gutiérrez family's coffees reach the highest level of specialty. In the bag, you will find our favorite type of coffee experiment. The Kenyan SL28 variety grown in Costa Rica. We have already had such coffees from our favorite Hacienda Sonora, and now it is time for Ivan Gutiérrez, who – in our humble opinion – has raised the stakes. This coffee is perfectly prepared.  specialty coffee from. Light roast, perfect for filter coffee machines, drippers, Chemex, AeroPress, French Press, and other pour-over brewing methods. In the cup, you can expect the hints of almond, caramel and red apple.Origin: ColombiaRegion: Palestina, Huila Farm: CADEFIHUILAVariety: Caturra, TabiProcessing: WashedAltitude: 1700 m a.s.l.ABOUT THE REGION AND THE FARMThe municipality of Palestina is a unique place: it is called the "water and forest factory" of the Huila region. It is characterized by two types of climate: cold and temperate, and coffees from this area differ from the rest of Huila – they are more acidic and delicate, with distinct fruity notes. Our coffee comes from a selected group of producers from the upper part of the municipality of Palestina, located at an altitude of approximately 1700 meters above sea level. This group of farmers has specialized in cultivating varieties such as Tabi and Caturra. Cooperativa Departamental de Caficultores del Huila Ltda. CADEFIHUILA is a non-profit organization and one of the most important coffee cooperatives in Colombia. Its reach covers 27 municipalities, where a support network operates consisting of 45 coffee purchase points, 46 fertilizer stores, 36 agricultural supply stores, 16 permanent cupping laboratories, one mobile laboratory, and 7 points offering drying services. CADEFIHUILA implements programs aimed at achieving high production standards on farms. These standards are based on codes of conduct such as Fairtrade, Rainforest, 4C, and C.A.F.E. Practices. The development of certification processes for these specialized coffees allows the cooperative to meet market demand for coffee purchased under specific conditions.ABOUT THE VARIETYCaturra is a coffee variety that originated as a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety. It was discovered on a plantation in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil between 1915 and 1918. The name "Caturra" comes from the word "Guarani", which means "small". This variety is characterized by the short stature of the plant. Due to its small size and closely spaced branches, it can be planted close together, which increases the yield per given area. Caturra contributed to the intensification of coffee cultivation, especially in Central America, where it was introduced into cultivation in the 1940s. This variety also played a significant role in breeding coffee plants resistant to coffee leaf rust, contributing to the creation of the "Catimor" family of varieties. Tabi is a relatively young variety, created in Colombia as a cross between Bourbon, Typica, and the disease-resistant Timor Hybrid variety. The word "Tabi" comes from the language of the indigenous people of Colombia and means "peace" or "life".ABOUT THE PROCESSINGThe coffee undergoes a traditional washing process, which begins with harvesting ripe cherries, weighing them, and leaving them for 24 hours in a processing tank. Next, the beans are depulped and placed in a water tank, where they are rinsed twice after about 12 hours. Finally, the coffee is dried in the sun or mechanically, depending on the producer's capabilities.Store in a dry and cool place.

The factory itself has been operating since 1996, and the cooperative has been a part of Kenyan coffee history since 1951. The coffee comes from approximately 600 smallholders, with the average farm measuring just 0.1 ha. Small scale. Great precision. The crops are situated at an altitude of 1,650–1,700 meters above sea level, near the forest boundary of Mount Kenya. The soils are volcanic, and macadamia trees appear among the shade trees. Tea is also grown in the region, which reflects the climate of the area well: high, green, humid, with excellent conditions for the slow ripening of cherries. The coffee is processed using the washed method, so we expect cleanliness, high acidity, and classic Kenyan juiciness.ROASTER'S OPINIONThis is Kenya in a good, precise style. High acidity, plenty of juiciness, a clean profile, and that exact character you look for in Kirinyaga. Blackcurrant, citrus, tea. Zero randomness. A coffee like this does not need stories about magic. It needs a good recipe.Store in a dry and cool place.

This 36-year-old, who has been working with coffee for over half his life, invested all his resources two years ago to build a small, self-sufficient processing station – a depulper, fermentation tanks, and a small greenhouse for drying. From season to season, his coffees show increasing complexity on the cupping table, which translates into higher and higher prices he can demand for his lots!ABOUT THE COFFEE BEAN PROCESSING ON THE FARMCaturra and catuai varieties, hand-picked and then dried as whole cherries for about 25 days in the greenhouse built next to Edinson's house.ROASTER'S OPINIONWe are tossing the first natural from Peru this season into the roaster! Plenty of sticky sweetness, beautiful fruity layers, and an aftertaste measured in tens of minutes.Store in a cold and dry space.

Manufacturer: HERESY

Roasting date: 19.05.2026

Whole-bean specialty coffee from Ethiopia, roasted by Heresy roasting brand. Light roast, perfect for filter coffee machines, drippers, Chemex, AeroPress, French Press, and other pour-over brewing methods. The brew resembles the flavour of flowers, citrus, stone fruits, herbs and tea.Origin: EthiopiaRegion: GujiFarm: Hambela GoroProcessing: WashedAltitude: 2300 m a.s.l.Cupping score: 87 / 100ABOUT THE FARM AND THE COFFEE PRODUCERWe met Tagel in January 2025 during a trip to Ethiopia. His father was a legend of Guji during his lifetime, building the region's first wet mill in the early 2000s, whose infrastructure began to be used by small producers of the Bule Hora community. When the Ethiopian government liberalized export regulations in 2018, which practically opened up opportunities for smallholders to sell their coffee outside the country, Tagel founded the Olkai company and, in addition to exporting, also took over the coordination of the Hambela Goro mill. The coffee comes from 460 small producers in the area, from an impressive altitude of approx. 2,300 meters above sea level. They cultivate the local 74110 variety here, and many of them own only a few hundred trees. The organization, standards, and cleanliness at Hambela Goro made a big impression on us, as did the incredibly clean and consistent lots that we had the opportunity to taste fresh while still on site.ABOUT THE COFFEE BEAN PROCESSING ON THE FARMVariety 74110, hand-picked by 460 small producers from around Hambela Goro, depulped, and then fermented in a tank for 48 hours. Washed, dried on raised beds for 12 days.ROASTER'S OPINIONA washed Ethiopian classic in its pure form. There is no point in saying too much here – there is a flower, yellow fruit, it is light, elegant, and complex. A blockbuster product.Store in a cold and dry space.

The company was founded by Syoum and Emame, and is currently run by their grandchildren. Bette Buna is committed to improving the quality of life for its community members – it teaches local farmers how to improve soil quality, restore agroforestry systems, and understand the importance of harvesting ripe cherries. Ripe cherries weigh more and yield better coffee, so farmers receive higher pay per kilogram, as well as a quality premium. The company also distributes over 350,000 seedlings from its own nursery every year.Fun fact: The coffee underwent a decaffeination process at the Coffein Compagnie using a solution of water and ethyl acetate, which occurs naturally in sugar cane, coffee, and fruits. In several stages, caffeine was gently and selectively extracted from the beans, allowing the green coffee to retain a profile closely linked to the original batch.Store in a cold and dry space.
