Moya Matcha - Genmaicha 15 x 1,5 g
Genmaicha is a sweet, slightly nutty, and aromatic tea with an intriguing amber hue. Its flavor, familiar from sushi bars and Japanese restaurants, lingers in the memory for a long time. Legend has it that a shogun’s servant in Hakone served his master tea into which stolen rice grains he had kept in his pocket accidentally fell. The servant paid for his mistake with his life, but the shogun enjoyed the taste of the infusion so much that he decided to add the new tea to his menu permanently. Thus Genmaicha was born, today also known as “popcorn tea.” In the past, it was considered a drink of the lower classes, who added much cheaper rice grains to pure sencha leaves to increase their volume. Moya Genmaicha comes from organic plantations on the island of Kyushu.
Moya Genmaicha is made from organic sencha leaves and organic brown rice grains. Before the rice is dried and roasted, it is specially soaked and steamed. Genmaicha is a tea with a moderate caffeine content. It supports the digestive system and is therefore traditionally served with meals.
