ABOUT THE FARM & PRODUCER
The Kii washing station is one of the key sites of the Rungeto cooperative. If you’ve been a fan of juicy Kenyan coffees for years, you might also recognize names like Karimikui or Kiangoi – both are managed by this very co-op. Around 850 smallholder farmers deliver their cherries here, all coordinated under the supervision of Mr. Zablon Kamongo. Today, Kii has become synonymous with top-quality Kenyan coffee, and year after year the lots from this station thrill us on the cupping table.
ABOUT THE PROCESSING
The Kenyan varieties are hand-picked and undergo initial sorting through floating. The cherries are then depulped (removing the seed from the fruit) and separated into three quality categories. They ferment in water for up to 36 hours before being washed and dried on raised beds for several days.
ROASTER’S NOTES
Fresh, juicy Kenyas are simply something special. Drinking them feels more like sipping a concentrated fruit juice than coffee. If that’s your thing, you can go all in – this one hits the mark every time.
