A classic natural, managed professionally. Ripe cherries are scattered on a clay patio and dried in dry, stable conditions for about 20 days. Low humidity and stable farm temperatures are key here - clean, sweet and deep cup here!

Andres represents the fifth generation of producers, which means that his great-great-grandfather was already growing coffee in the Apaneca region in the second half of the 19th century. Well, Andres seems to know how to do it, as his coffees took the top spots in the Cup of Excellence in 2018 and 2019. He and his family are also the founders of the FUNDATACO Foundation, which helps talented children from the area get into soccer clubs and start sports careers with the support of scholarships. Amazing stuff!

Is this the best coffee from El Salvador I've had? Perhaps. I think it is. Love from the first sip. High, sticky sweetness balanced by ripe, orange acidity. All in a slightly winey, as well as fruity anturage. And also some florals wiggling in the background. Everything rounds out beautifully here.

The coffee is packed in a brown jar made of PET, 100% recyclable or reusable. In case you're thinking "oh no, plastic!", bear in mind that standard coffee packaging is also made of plastic (and a few other materials, making it often harder to recycle). We also thought about glass, but it's heavier, more expensive, breakable and, wait for it, has the same or greater (sic!) environmental impact! A plastic jar turns out to be pretty eco-friendly, just remember to put it in the right container, or find a creative way to reuse it at home.
