KitchenAid - Automatic Espresso Machine KF8 inox
(TAX included)
KitchenAid KF8
A morning with the KF8 goes like this: you walk up, tap your profile and take the coffee you actually like. The machine grinds the beans, doses them, brews and froths the milk. You pick the drink on the 12.7 cm colour touchscreen and it handles the rest.
The menu holds over 40 preset recipes, and six user profiles mean everyone at home gets their own version of coffee. Quiet Mark certification means the first cup at six in the morning does not wake the rest of the flat.
Who the KF8 is for
This machine solves a few very specific situations:
- several people drink coffee at home and everyone takes it differently: six profiles remember the settings, so nobody resets the machine after the last person
- you drink oat or almond milk: the KF8 has a dedicated mode for plant-based milk, because it foams differently from dairy
- you are new to coffee: every drink is ready under one tap and you do not need to know anything about brewing
- or quite the opposite, you like to tinker: strength, temperature, grind size and volumes are all yours to set, separately for each drink
Over 40 drinks and five strength levels
Espresso, macchiato, americano, latte, cappuccino and dozens more recipes wait on the screen. You can adjust any of them and save the result to your profile:
- one or two espresso shots in the drink
- coffee strength across five levels, meaning how much ground coffee goes into a serving
- body, which is how full and rounded the coffee feels in the mouth
- drink temperature
- coffee and milk volumes
- the order in which milk and coffee reach the cup
You start from a preset and change only what does not suit you. If your espresso comes out thin, you raise the strength by one level and that is it.
Three steps to a cup
1. Fill the hopper. It holds 270 g and lifts out in one move, with a twist and a pull. Switching to a different coffee takes seconds.
2. Pick a drink or your profile. The recipes sit on the surface of the screen, with no digging through submenus.
3. Take your coffee. The machine grinds, doses and brews on its own, then clears the grinder before the next serving.
Fresh grounds in every cup
The KF8 grinds right before brewing, because ground coffee loses its aroma within minutes. The grinder runs steel burrs and doses each drink by itself, so there is nothing to weigh.
Grind size is set separately for every recipe. It is the most important dial on any espresso machine: the finer the grind, the slower water flows through the coffee and the stronger the drink comes out. After each serving, Auto Purge clears the grinding chamber, so once you change beans the first cup tastes of the new coffee rather than the end of the last bag.
Dairy and plant-based milk
The KESMC milk container and hose are included. The machine heats and froths exactly as much milk as the chosen drink needs, and it can prepare two milk drinks at once.
Plant-based drinks hold less protein than dairy, so they foam less readily and at a different temperature. That is why the KF8 runs them through a separate mode: oat, almond and soy come out with dense microfoam instead of large bubbles on top.
Cleaning you do not have to remember
The machine rinses itself every time you switch it on and prompts you on screen for everything else. Your part looks like this:
- After every milk drink: rinse the container and the hose. Dried milk changes the taste of the next cappuccino.
- Weekly: empty and rinse the water tank, wash the drip tray and the grounds container.
- When the machine asks: a KESCT8 tablet through the brew unit, a new KESWF filter and the descaling programme. The brew unit lifts out and rinses under the tap.
- What not to do: never put anything but whole coffee beans in the grinder. Sugar-coated or flavoured beans can gum up the burrs.
Four terms worth knowing
Quiet Mark is an independent certification linked to the British Noise Abatement Society, awarded after laboratory testing to the quietest 10 to 20 per cent of products in a given category. It comes without a decibel figure, because the same number sounds different from room to room, and how loud something feels depends on the character of the sound as much as its level.
The brew unit is the heart of the machine: ground coffee lands there and hot water passes through it. In the KF8 it comes out without tools, which makes cleaning easier and extends the machine's life.
Descaling removes the deposit hard water leaves behind. A scaled-up machine brews cooler and slower. The KF8 has a built-in programme, and a water hardness test strip comes in the box.
Thermocoil heats water as it flows instead of warming a whole boiler. In practice you do not wait for the machine to warm up, and the temperature holds steady through the brew.
KF6, KF7 or KF8
All three sit on the same base: a 26 cm wide body, a 2.2 litre tank, Thermocoil heating and Quiet Mark certification. What separates them is how much the machine takes on and how much you can adjust.

The KF8 makes sense when more than four people want their own settings, when you drink plant-based milk, or when you want to fine-tune your coffee beyond three strength levels. If you stick to two or three drinks on dairy milk, the KF7 does the same job for less.

Frequently asked questions
How does the KF8 differ from the KF7?
In four ways: a 5.0" screen instead of 3.5", six profiles instead of four, five coffee strength levels instead of three, and a plant-based milk mode the KF7 does not have. The grinder, Thermocoil heating and quiet operation are shared.
Will it make a latte with oat milk?
Yes. The KF8 has a separate mode for plant-based milk: oat, almond and soy. The milk container and hose are included.
What do 15 bars mean?
That is the pump's maximum pressure. Espresso itself brews at around 9 bars, and the headroom keeps the pressure steady through the shot. A bigger number on the box does not mean stronger coffee.
How often does it need descaling?
It depends on how hard your water is. The machine counts the drinks it has brewed and prompts you on screen; a water hardness test strip is included, along with a KESWF filter that slows scale build-up.
Will the KF8 fit on my worktop?
It measures 260 mm wide, 363 mm high and 473 mm deep. A standard worktop is 600 mm deep, so there is room to spare. Check that you also have clearance above the machine for filling the bean hopper and the water tank.
