Chire is a high-altitude micro-region in Kere Woreda, located in the heart of Ethiopian Sidamo – a place famous for years for its exceptional coffee quality. The local washing station, Chire Washing Station, processes coffees using both washed and natural methods.
Behind every cup are over 900 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee trees on small, 1–2-hectare plots. These small farms, fertile soils, and high cultivation altitudes translate into beans full of character and juicy complexity.
However, the Chire region does not live by coffee alone – alongside the coffee trees, enset (known as the "false banana") and creamy avocados also grow here. This is a landscape of abundance, where coffee matures slowly, gaining sweetness and juiciness. Exactly like this washed lot in front of you – black, sweet tea, red apple (sweet, crisp, and juicy), and a creamy vanilla paste. Pure madness.
