Country: Colombia

Region: Antioquia

Farm: La Villa

Processing: Anaerobic Washed

Altitude: 1720 m a.s.l.

Cupping score: 88 / 100

Variety: Gesha

Some coffees reward curiosity. La Villa is exactly this kind of Colombia – complex, aromatic, and with a clarity that makes every sip interesting. It brings tropical fruits and herbal freshness, while remaining structured and very pleasant to drink. This lot comes from the La Villa farm in Colombia, grown at an altitude of 1,720 meters above sea level. The farm has belonged to Juan Darío's family since the early 1970s, and to this day, they independently process 90% of their coffee on-site. The Geisha is processed using a controlled anaerobic washed method: after an initial 24-hour fermentation in steel tanks, the beans with the remaining pectin layer are fermented in a bioreactor with added yeast for 72 hours, after which the coffee undergoes another anaerobic submerged fermentation, and then, after being rinsed, dries for 15 days under controlled conditions.

ROASTER'S OPINION

La Villa is a refined Colombian Geisha with an aromatic, tropical, and very characteristic profile. Lemongrass and pineapple bring a vibrant, floral character, while ginger adds a delicate spiciness and warmth. The cup is clean, structured, and easy to read, with a creamy texture that binds everything together. It is expressive and complex, yet still balanced and pleasant to drink – a great Colombia for those who like something a little different.
