ABOUT THE COFFEE
This exceptional micro-lot comes from a small group of producers in the Santiago microregion of San Ramón, located in Costa Rica’s renowned West Valley. The region, situated in Alajuela Province, includes the cantons of San Ramón, Palmares, Naranjo, Atenas, and Grecia. Here, farmers—largely descendants of settlers from the Central Valley—grow coffee plants in valley bottoms and on mountain slopes. The Pacific-influenced climate provides stable temperatures, six months of rainfall, and a dry, sunny season ideal for coffee cultivation. Small-scale producers, who make up 85% of all farmers, carefully tend their plantations spread across the area’s valleys and hillsides. Just an hour from San José, San Ramón is known for its calm, unhurried character, earning it the nickname “The City of Presidents and Poets.”
