ABOUT THE COFFEE
Malolo Agricultural Cooperative operates in the Songwe region of southwestern Tanzania. It brings together hundreds of smallholder farmers who collectively work to improve the quality of their harvests. The cooperative focuses on conscious cultivation practices: running training programs, seedling nurseries, and maintaining shade trees that protect coffee plants while enriching the plantation’s microclimate. You can taste the result of this care in Malolo coffee – clean, vibrant, and well-balanced, as if every small effort from the farmers came together in one clear profile.
The cherries are hand-picked, usually in several passes through the trees to ensure only fully ripe fruit is selected. They are then delivered to the washing station, where they are pulped, fermented, washed, and dried either on patios or raised beds until they reach the right moisture level. This straightforward, classic method produces a transparent profile that highlights bright citrus and herbal notes.
ROASTER’S NOTES
This year’s Tanzanian harvest kept surprising us. It delivers the clarity and brightness we always look for in African coffees – beans with real flair, you could say! Malolo is no exception. This particular lot surprised us with an extra nuance of nougat. It’s sweet and creamy, finishing with a gentle herbal touch that perfectly complements its fresh character.
