Matcha Aoba is a tea we are especially proud of. It is a classic, high-quality first-harvest matcha, produced entirely without the use of synthetic plant protection products. It comes from the very birthplace of matcha, Kyoto Prefecture. It is also worth noting that it was ground just before being shipped from Japan to our warehouse, making it an exceptionally fresh product.
Tencha, meaning the tea leaves used for matcha before grinding, comes from the first harvest and was shaded with covering mats for over three weeks prior to picking. Its flavor profile is further enhanced by the volcanic soils in which the tea bushes are grown. This tea is ideal as an everyday matcha in a light usucha style, offering a very rich, sweet taste.
Origin: Kyoto, Japan
Cultivar: blend
How to brew:
Usucha style:
1.6g matcha / 70ml water / 75-80°C
Soak the chasen (bamboo whisk) bristles in warm water for about 30 seconds.
It is recommended to sift the matcha through a sieve directly into the chawan (a large tea bowl) to prevent clumping.
Add water and stir with the chasen 4 to 5 times using a vigorous circular motion along the bottom of the bowl to set the powder in motion, then for about 30 seconds whisk energetically in a “W” shape back and forth along the bottom.
Finally, lightly glide the chasen over the surface of the tea to gently break up any excess foam.
