Chris is an Asia-focused coffee importer operating under the Indochina brand. He sent us samples of several coffees from China, and we chose this one… the most “coffee-like” of them all. It’s a super sweet, dense espresso with spicy notes in the background.



The Banka farm and washing station are located in Menglian Dai, Lahu, in Yunnan Province. The name comes from two neighboring villages, Banka Yi and Banka Er, where the coffee cherries are harvested. Yunnan Coffee Traders, partners of our importer, support coffee cultivation on site, manage the Banka mill and part of the farm, and focus on developing infrastructure and knowledge. They installed one of the first optical sorters in the region and experiment with processing methods such as yeast fermentation. They also grow new varieties, including Pacamara and Bourbon. Indochina has worked with YCT since they first began importing coffee to the United Kingdom in 2016. This is our third year of cooperation with this importer, and we hope to be able to present even more coffees from this region soon.
