THE FARM

It's hard to imagine a more spectacular farm than San Jose de Lago: coffee grows overlooking one of the most beautiful lakes in the world - Atitlan, surrounded by as many as three volcanoes! What's more, most of the farm is a protected reserve, with untouched nature and wildlife, since hunting and logging are prohibited there! Eduardo's family has been growing coffee for over 80 years, and recently they have also been doing their own wet processing. This year, for the first time, we were able to obtain their beans from direct distribution through 88 Graines!

ROASTER'S COMMENT

The perfect espresso bean doesn't come along often, in fact, for the past few weeks there's been nothing in our sights that would meet our espresso expectations. We waited for a fresh Guatemalas, knowing that there would finally be the right balance offering a full range of flavours in every shot - fruity stories like blueberries, plus caramel stuff and even a flower in the background. After all, what else could coffee taste like when grown by the most beautiful lake in the world? Just as beautiful, of course!

PACKAGING

The coffee is packed in a brown jar made of PET, 100% recyclable or reusable. In case you're thinking "oh no, plastic!", bear in mind that standard coffee packaging is also made of plastic (and a few other materials, making it often harder to recycle). We also thought about glass, but it's heavier, more expensive, breakable and, wait for it, has the same or greater (sic!) environmental impact! A plastic jar turns out to be pretty eco-friendly, just remember to put it in the right container, or find a creative way to reuse it at home.
