PROCESSING

A washed process in Kenya is like freezing cold vodka on the table during Polish feast. Typical and must be! Before being stripped of their dign..., sorry, of the cherries, the beans are first sorted. Then they spend the night doing crazy things, that is fermenting. The next morning - a splash of water to tidy up! Then recuperating in the sun from 8 to 14  days.

THE FARM

The name Karimikui has been bringing flushed cheeks to the roasters for years. Red ones, as those fruits in the cup. It's one of the most recognizable processing stations in Kenya in terms of quality. They were drying their first lots when Polish television released the pilot episode of Klan, the most legendary soap opera. Gives us food for thought.

ROASTER'S COMMENT

Definitely one of my favorite Kenyans! Karimikui is already a buzzword today, at the sound of which your salivary glands start working hard. Do you know those colorful, fruity candies with an "S" in the red package? This Kenya definitely does NOT taste like one of them. The purple one. Not at all!

PACKAGING

The coffee is packed in a brown jar made of PET, 100% recyclable or reusable. In case you're thinking "oh no, plastic!", bear in mind that standard coffee packaging is also made of plastic (and a few other materials, making it often harder to recycle). We also thought about glass, but it's heavier, more expensive, breakable and, wait for it, has the same or greater (sic!) environmental impact! A plastic jar turns out to be pretty eco-friendly, just remember to put it in the right container, or find a creative way to reuse it at home.
