PROCESSING

A classic natural process. The fruit was made to lounge on raised beds after harvest so it could turn from deep reddish-purple to brown and wrinkled, like your fingertips when you sit in the tub for too long. This is another coffee from the San Coffee co-op that charms us with a damn well executed process. That is - it's sweet, intense and round!

THE FARM

A young woman, just out of college, with no experience in the coffee world inherits her father's farm in a male-dominated industry. That could be the first sentence of a Netflix series review. This time it's 100% true and the heroine of today's episode is Raquel Aguirar, a wonderful woman who has mastered the incredibly difficult art of managing a coffee farm over the past several years. Lots from Cerrado Grande were some of our favorites among the coffees from Brazil last season!

ROASTER'S COMMENT

This time, no wild dances or stunts. Of our last three coffees from Campo das Vertentes, the Cerrado Grande is the one  responsible for pulling the others together during the party. An elegant, extremely round profile, with pronounced florals, stone fruit and clear chocolaty flavors. Balanced like Philippe Petit. If you always danced funk, you'd lose your sensitivity to ballads mate!

PACKAGING

The coffee is packed in a brown jar made of PET, 100% recyclable or reusable. In case you're thinking "oh no, plastic!", bear in mind that standard coffee packaging is also made of plastic (and a few other materials, making it often harder to recycle). We also thought about glass, but it's heavier, more expensive, breakable and, wait for it, has the same or greater (sic!) environmental impact! A plastic jar turns out to be pretty eco-friendly, just remember to put it in the right container, or find a creative way to reuse it at home.
