I had an opportunity to test another piece of equipment and this time I went with manual coffee grinders! Which grinder should you choose if you are thinking of steel burrs? Today I am looking into three coffee grinders: Comandante<\/a>, Timemore<\/a> Chestnut and Barista Space<\/a>. Let’s see how they compare.<\/strong><\/big><\/p>\n

Please, take it as a semi-amateur entry, because I\u2019m not trained in the classification of grinders. I take measurements and make descriptions based on what I see, measure, weigh and consider worth noting, backed up merely by the 12 years I spent working with coffee.<\/p>\n

To compare three grinders \u2013 Comandante<\/strong><\/a>, Timemore Chestnut<\/strong><\/a>, and Barista Space<\/strong><\/a> I will consider the following seven features:<\/p>\n

  4. Weight<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Construction<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Grind settings<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. Quality of the grind \/ burrs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    So, let’s go!<\/p>\n

    1. Design<\/h2>\n

    As you can clearly see in the photo:<\/p>\n

    The way it looks is an individual thing, so judge for yourself, I will tell you a little more about the materials of which each grinder was made.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    Comandante Zebra<\/h3>\n

    The grinder is made of a wooden texture applied onto an aluminum body. The coffee container is made of glass and looks like a small jar. The size is optimal \u2013 the grinder is easy to grip and the handle is comfortable. The colors of these grinders<\/a> are diverse, so everyone will find something they like.<\/p>\n

    Timemore Chestnut Grinder Black Transparent<\/h3>\n

    The Timemore grinder is an aluminum body and a plastic hopper (it is also available in other versions \u2013 with a wooden hopper<\/a>). Despite the plastic at the bottom, the whole thing looks very good and fits well in the hand. The available color versions are rather classic and universal compared to color choices in the Comandante offer.<\/p>\n

    Barista Space<\/h3>\n

    The whole grinder is made of aluminum, solidly constructed. It lies very firmly in the hand because it is smaller in diameter than the Comandante. It is available in many colors \u2013 black<\/a>, gold<\/a> and green<\/a>\u00a0and more. The rubber band on the grinder makes the grip even more stable.<\/p>\n

    In my opinion, the Barista Space is number one when it comes to a sure grip, then there\u2019s the Timemore grinder and, lastly, the Comandante. Most likely it is due to the grinder\u2019s overall diameter.<\/p>\n

    In each of the grinders, the knob of the handle is made of wood \u2013 in the Comandante you can also replace the knob with a knob of a different color<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

    2. Dimensions:<\/h2>\n

    The Barista Space grinder is by far the slimmest of the three \u2013 it will be the most compact solution for travelers. The Comandante is the most massive due to its largest diameter, which also translates into capacity \u2013 but we\u2019ll get there!<\/p>\n
